2016 Volleyball Tryouts & Season Information

The 2016 season is right around the corner, here is a long list of things you need to do/consider/plan for.

Tryouts are August 3,4,5

Freshman: 2:00-4:00
Soph/Junior/Senior:  4:00-6:00

Please don’t be late.  Have your paperwork done.  Bring water, you won’t want to drink out of the fountain. :)

Paperwork Stuff

There is a fair amount of stuff to get done before you start playing high school sports.  Go through these step by step to ensure they get done before tryouts.



Watch the Play For Keeps (TAD) Video and then print and sign the paper saying you watched it.

Sign up through iplay registration  (iparent)

Get a current physical (your physical cannot expire during the season)

Concussion baseline testing at PHS room 245 - This is for incoming freshman and students who have not participated in sports in the Mat Su School District.  This is mandatory and shouldn't take much of your time.  There are 15 times to choose from, please make it a priority to get in and get this test taken.

 July 25th, 26th, 27th, 1:00, 2:00, 3:00

August 1st & 2nd, 1:00, 2:00, 3:00.
Don't be late.



Pay $150 online through School Cash.  You may also pay by check at the school.

Other Stuff

There will be a mandatory parent meeting on August 10th at 6:00.  At least 1 parent/guardian must attend.  All athletes are required to attend as well.  Uniforms will be handed out.

Volleyball Players will be assigned a uniform top, which will be turned in at the end of the season.

Volleyball Players will need to buy 1 pair of blue spandex from the booster club for $16 once the season starts. These are game spandex which you will get to keep.

Tryouts are coming up soon, here is the information you need:

Required Paperwork:

You can go on iParent to get the release form and paperwork.  I'd post a link, but I don't have one.
You can pay the $150 participation fee on iParent as well.

Current Physical   (Good for 1 year. Now is a great time to get it if you compete in multiple sports.)

Parents and Athletes must Watch the TAD Video and then complete the survey on that page saying you watched it.

Parents and Athletes must read and watch all the required information about concussions, and then fill out the survey on the page to confirm you did so.

Summer Camp 2014

Volleyball Summer Session

Hosted by Palmer High School Volleyball

This year we will, once again, be offering an opportunity for local players to work on their volleyball skills in a camp that meets weekly throughout the summer. 

There will be three groups:

New this summer! Girls entering 6^th or 7^th grade 

We’ve added a section specifically for young players. Our goal is to provide a fun, fast paced setting where players can work toward creating a strong foundation built on sound fundamentals and proven techniques.  We will stress the importance of forming good habits, having a great attitude, and developing a strong work ethic. 

Meets 6 times over 2 weeks at the AT&T Center from 2:30-4:30pm.  July 7,8,10,14,15,17 

Cost: $125

Girls entering 8^th or 9^th grade

This section focuses heavily on the fundamental skills needed to transition successfully from middle school into high school.  Players will gain more general knowledge of the game, and will also work on improving their skills in the positions they are best suited for.

Meets Wednesday afternoon at PJMS, (AT&T in July) 2:30-4:30pm. 

May 28, June 4,11,18,25, July 9,16,23,30

Cost: $135

Girls entering grades 10-12

This is the most advanced section. Practices will be tailored more for the individual player, and will consist of drills and skill work with plenty of technical feedback. We will be focused on improving players specifically in the positions they play, as well as refining, and advancing individual skill. 

Meets Wednesday afternoon at PJMS, (AT&T in July) 4:30-6:30pm.

May 28, June 4,11,18,25, July 9,16,23,30 Cost: $135

We are still working on finalizing the exact dates and times.  There may be slight changes made later.  A more accurate schedule will be available soon.

Coaches will include:  Steve Reynolds, Jayme Dehart, and a wide variety of others with first hand knowledge of the skills needed to take your game to the next level.
